The 2026 Long Range Hunter Clinic, held on August 8, 2026, was a remarkable
success. Seventeen shooters participated either in a morning session or an afternoon
session. Preparing for upcoming elk or deer hunts out West this fall was the primary
reason for attending the Clinic. Thanks to the ten experienced mentors and helpers who
volunteered their Saturday to support the club and share their expertise, every attendee
achieved their shooting goals and will be well prepared for their fall adventures.

In addition to the focus on the Clinic attendees, the registration fees help keep
Columbus Sportsman’s Association a viable and thriving shooting option.
A benefit of attending the long-range shooting clinic is the Vortex discount. Each
attendee is provided the opportunity to purchase Vortex products at 50% off MSRP
thanks to the partnership Columbus Sportsman’s Association has with Vortex for this
event. Many attendees purchased new scopes, rangefinders, and binoculars.
Some of the attendees have already joined CSA as members and others are
considering it. Four attendees become long-range certified.
The attendees gave high marks for all phases of the Clinic which included:
a. Registration process
b. Pre-event communication
c. Education session in club house
d. Short- and long-range shooting
e. Lunch
Attendees made the following comments on the Clinic:
1. Impressive facility!
2. Can’t believe how well a volunteer team works together.
3. How did you ever get that much expertise for this event?
4. My mentor was great; my confidence soared 100%.
5. I never thought I could hit a target at six hundred yards.
6. Pie was second to none!

The Long-Range Hunter clinic is a rare opportunity to train under experienced long-
range shooters and prepare for real-world hunting scenarios.
