We know getting started with a new range or league can come with lots of questions — and we’re here to help. Below, you’ll find clear answers to some of the most common inquiries about our events, memberships, certifications, and safety programs. Whether you’re brand new or a returning member, this guide is designed to help you make the most of your time at CSA.

Membership 

How much does a membership cost?

How many volunteer hours are required?

Can non-members use the range, or are day passes available?

Non-members can participate in certain events and leagues, such as the Long Range Group, provided they meet specific requirements like certification. For general range use, membership is typically required.​ No day passes are currently available.

Do you offer options for guests or one-time visits?

Guests are welcome when accompanied by a member. Specific events may also be open to non-members. Please check our Upcoming Events for opportunities.​

What are the range hours for members?

Members have access to the range during designated hours, which may vary seasonally. For current operating hours, please contact us.  

Do I need to be a member to use the rifle or pistol ranges?

Yes, general use of the rifle and pistol ranges requires membership. However, certain events may be open to non-members.​  Browse our Upcoming Events here.

Do I need to be a member to join a league/group?

Check the page of the league/group you would like to join as some of them allow non-members.  Check out the full options here.​

Volunteering & Club Operations

What is expected from members in terms of volunteer hours?

Members are encouraged to contribute volunteer hours to support the club's operations and events. Specific requirements and opportunities are detailed on our Volunteer Requirements page.​

How is the club managed, and what should new members expect?

CSA is managed by a dedicated Board of Directors and relies on member involvement. New members can expect a welcoming environment focused on safety, education, and community.​

Action Rifle League and Long Range Group

Is attendance required every Tuesday for the Action Rifle League?

While regular attendance is encouraged to maximize the experience, it's not mandatory. Participants can join sessions as their schedules allow.​​​​

What if I can't attend some Tuesdays?

Missing occasional sessions is understandable. Each event is structured to accommodate varying attendance.​

When does the Long Range Group start, and what is the cost?

The Long Range Group meets on Monday evenings from 5:30 to 7:00 PM during the summer and Saturday mornings in the winter. It's open to both members and non-members who are long-range certified. For current fees, contact Ray Weitzel at 608-628-9820.

Do I need to be certified to participate in the Long Range Group?

Yes, long-range certification is required. Those not certified can schedule mentoring sessions with Ray Weitzel at 608-628-9820 for guidance and certification details.

General Range Use

How do I get certified to use the 600-yard range?

To use the 600-yard range, shooters must complete a long-range certification process, ensuring safety and proficiency. Mentoring sessions for certification can be arranged with Ray Weitzel at 608-628-9820. ​

What’s involved in the long-range qualification process?

The process includes demonstrating safe firearm handling, understanding of range protocols, and shooting proficiency at extended distances. Details can be discussed with Ray Weitzel at 608-628-9820.​

What are the requirements to use the long-distance range?

Shooters must be long-range certified, which involves a combination of safety training and demonstrated shooting competence.​

Training & Safety Courses

Do you offer Hunter Safety classes throughout the year?

Yes, CSA offers comprehensive hunter safety courses. For schedules and registration, please visit our Education page.​

Can I enroll my child in a hunter safety course at your range?

Yes, youth are welcome to participate in our hunter safety courses. Early registration is recommended due to high demand.​  See details and register on our Education page.
