As the year winds down and we enjoy the Holiday Season we look back and recall the events of 2025. A successful year for sure. The weekends are generally active from April through October but still allowing ample range time for open shooting.
October and November you will always find someone preparing their equipment and improving their skills for an enjoyable deer hunt or shooting competition.
The first shooting activity each year is our .22 pistol league with about 26 shooters, we had great weather. We quickly moved into trap with our spring with the 2man 6-week league and
ended the year with 2-man 6 week fall league. Keeping in mind that we have open trap every Thursday throughout the year.
The long range was active with Precision Rifle Shooting (PRS) holding several events as did the Bench rest shooters, and the Long-Range Monday Night League (Saturday in the winter months). NLR22 holds monthly shoot and Action rifle holds Tuesday night shoots in the summer months. Rimfire challenge in the fall is always a big success.
Archery activities have become more of a youth program using the outdoor range as well as the indoor range. CSA also hosted events on the trap range i.e. the Alzheimer fund raiser, the Columbkille trap shoot, and Prairie Ridge Hospital charity shoot.
The Short Range is one of the most used ranges at CSA. Plans are being reviewed to upgrade the range. The project will allow us to add 3 or 4 more benches. The biggest improvement will be that we will be able to shoot at 25, 50, 100, and 200 from any bench. The plan to move forward was put on hold in 2024 due to a personal injury that limited being at the range to move the project along. This delay has given the Board (with input from CSA members) the time to review addition shooting activities on this range and incorporate them into the range update plan. We should be back on target for 2026.
One of the goals has been to increase education activities or event, which, in the past few years, have included Hunters Safety Education, Dodge County Bar shoot, Sight-in clinics (both long range for the hunters that hunt out went and short range primarily for the non-member local hunters).
In the past few years, classes were also available for casting bullets, first aid, firearm care and cleaning, and reloading. Classes have also included conceal carry and defense with a firearm. If there is a topic of interest, please let us know and we could potentially host a class on it!
I would like to thank all the members that volunteered their time supporting the activities of CSA. As you know, CSA has no paid individuals or employees and without the help of the volunteers who step up to help at events, mow the grass, run a weed eater, help with needed repairs, or help with the trash and anything else that come up, we would have a very hard time doing what we do.
Remember, your 12 hours of helping at CSA equals a $125 savings at the time of membership renewals, again I say thank you.
Looking forward, our goal remains the same, be safe, have fun and invite others to enjoy the shooting sports

Recap of the September Rimfire Challenge Match
What a great year we had with our Rimfire Challenge Match on September 6th!
We had 72 guns shooting the match with 5 different states represented and good fun had by all. We had 3 world class shooters attend: Jena Larson, Cole Busch, and Lance Bratcher Jr. and needless to say they finished the match with some impressive times! We also had one brand new 13 year old shooter join us for his very first match and he did well, taking second place in the Youth category!
We had over $10,000 dollars in prizes on the prize table for the participants and some really unique light up awards for those who placed in their categories. Truly blessed to have such an amazing group of shooters join us this year. Huge shout out to the CSA members that helped with the match, it couldn’t be done without all of you! Special thanks to Ed Stehling, Al Teppo and Dewy Kuenzi for all the extra hours they put in to make the match happen!
