From CSA President, Larry Hasemann
A belated Happy New Year to all.
Here we are halfway through Feb, snow is gone, and temperatures are above normal and ice fishing was the shortest season I can remember. As a reminder for those that have not renewed your membership or secured your 2024 gate key, the lock has been changed. Most of you have already made time to update your info and met with Beth to take care of the needed business thus not interrupting your time on the range.
2023 was a good year for CSA, all of the shooting events went well with increased participation, and we even added another event. Looking forward 2024 looks like we will remain on course with an active year of shooting. Watch the club’s calendar and postings, both on Facebook and
our web page. Changes are taking place with some events i.e. IBS is changing to FBS (Freedom Bench Rest).
We have added 22NLR (precision shooting), PRS range has improved and has become more challenging, Rim fire Challenge in the Fall, Action rifle in the summer on Tuesday nights. Trap EVERY Thursday (don’t even have to be on a team). This winter we will have our .22 pistol league on Sunday early afternoons. Events on the short range are being reviewed for those looking for shorter range shooting.
In addition to the shooting activities, we are making an effort to provide education programs to meet the needs of those interested with a desire to improve in shooting and or outdoor activities. If anyone has an idea of an educational program to consider, please contact John Greene.
For those interested in getting their 12 hours in thus reducing the cost of renewal, we will be maintaining a list of projects. You can contact Dean Fuller or any Board Member for information.
CSA cannot function without volunteers. The Board is always interested in hearing from the membership with ideas and suggestions. If
you have an idea or would like the Board to review an additional activity, just contact one of us.
The goal is for everyone to have a good time enjoying what we all like to do and that is shoot. BUT while we are enjoying our sport, we want everyone to be safe so please wear your ear and eye protection, they are required.
Thank you for your membership and support.
Be safe and have fun.
Larry Haseman, President
Columbus Sportsman’s Association
