The 2025 Freedom Benchrest Season opened on Saturday April 5. Match One is done.
Five to go.
The camaraderie and sportsmanship were inspiring. Despite the challenging wind, the
competition was impressive.
I would like to recognize the outstanding turnout of volunteers who showed up and
made it possible to run a smooth and efficient Match for our guests.
The Target Crew was singled out in post-match feedback as “hitting it out of the Park”.
You certainly did. Your efficiency allowed the Scoring Team to perform at the top level.
Veteran RSO Ed Stehling “Called The Line” for us. Thanks, Ed, for keeping things Safe
and orderly.
The collective knowledge and ability to solve problems as a team is commendable. You
never complained and ran your tails off. You make it possible. It is a pleasure working
with you.
Recap
Marathon County Rifle and Pistol Club President and Benchrest Director Jerry
Brickheimer made his first trip to CSA. Jerry got off to a rough start in the LG Class
but came back in the HG Class with a 3 rd best smallest group at 1.899” (.30 MOA).
Curt Knitt had his traditional good day and went home with top scores in LG Group
Agg, HG Group Agg and HG Overall. He also had the only perfect 50 score (plus
2X) on his #2 HG Target that was grouped at 2.104” ( .35 MOA). He also swept the
Tactical Class with 1 st place honors in Tac Score AGG, Tact Group AGG and
Overall. He was top Dog in Tactical claiming Best Score of 47 and the top two Smallest
Groups, 2.084”( .33 MOA ) and 2.235” (.36 MOA).
Rob Unertl Performed well but couldn’t capture top aggregate or group honor from Knitt

across the Board in the Tactical Class including 2nd and 3rd Best High Single Target

place finish in the LG Aggregate and 4th in the Overall. He also was 23rd place LG
Single Target High Score with a 48 and second LG Smallest Single Target Group of

first.
CSA’s Paul Genz had a very good day. In the Light Gun Class Paul pulled down a 2nd
place finish in the Light Gun Score Aggregate and a 3rd place Light Gun Overall. He
also managed a 2nd place Smallest Group of 1.796 (.28 MOA) in the Heavy Gun Class.
Paul has set a goal to win a Screamer Patch this year. I think that’s very likely. Good
luck Paul! Come and get it!!

the best Light Gun Smallest Group at 2.042 (.32 MOA) with a score of 48. The score

is a gatekeep in the top 5. You must get by him too.
